Understanding Your Payouts

Beginner3 minutes

Understanding Your Payouts

Learn how money moves from customer payments to your bank account.

Where to find this

Services → Account tab → Payouts tab

How Payouts Work

When a customer pays you:

  1. Payment received - Money goes to your Stripe account.
  2. Processing period - Stripe holds funds briefly (usually 2-7 days).
  3. Payout sent - Money transfers to your bank.
  4. Funds arrive - Appears in your bank account.

Checking Your Payouts

1. Navigate to the Payouts Tab

  • Go to Services → Account tab.
  • Click on the Payouts tab to view all transfers to your bank.

What You'll See

Your payouts list shows:

  • Amount - How much was transferred.
  • Status - Pending, in transit, or paid.
  • Expected arrival - When it should reach your bank.
  • Bank account - Where it's going.

Understanding Payout Status

Checking Your Balance

To see your balance:

  • Click the Balances tab within the Account section.
  • View:
    • Available - Ready to be paid out now.
    • Pending - Payments still being processed.
    • Reserved - Held for potential disputes.

Payout Timing

  • Standard accounts: Payouts arrive in 2-7 business days, depending on your bank and account history.
  • New accounts: May have longer initial hold periods while Stripe verifies your business. This improves over time.

Tip: Payouts are automatic - you don't need to do anything. Money flows to your bank on a regular schedule.

Troubleshooting

  • Payout taking longer than expected? Bank transfers can take 1-2 extra days around weekends and holidays.
  • Payout failed? Ensure your bank details are correct in your Stripe account settings.
  • Need faster payouts? Contact Stripe about eligibility for instant payouts (additional fees may apply).
